Referência nos estudos de genêse cinematográfica na França e autoridade na obra de Alain Resnais e Orson Welles, o historiador, pesquisador e crítico de cinema François Thomas adota um procedimento por meio do qual a fala dos colaboradores e os dados dos documentos da gênese do filme se cruzam, oferecendo ao leitor uma ampla visão do conjunto da obra do realizador. Essa opção resulta num approach no qual análise fílmica e dados históricos encontram-se numa estreita relação de complementaridade. Essa entrevista faz um panorama sobre os trabalhos do pesquisador e sobre o universo conceitual no qual evoluem.
