Cultural diversity in the International Showcase of Audiovisual Works on Intangible Cultural Heritage in Mexico

This article aims to study the cultural diversity in the works selected during four editions of the International Exhibition of Audiovisual Works on Intangible Cultural Heritage. This approach is accompanied by a reflection on the concepts and methodologies that have been developed by UNESCO to assess cultural diversity in the film industry worldwide. It concludes, based on a review of some data from UNESCO studies and those originating from the Exhibition, the importance of film festivals as an alternative to expand and make possible the rights of citizens to access cultural diversity in the film and audiovisual sector.
