Peer Review Process

Articles submitted to the Thematic Free and Dossier sections must strictly adhere to the submission criteria available in the author guidelines section of this website.

In the preliminary review of the submission, the editorial team may recommend adjustments to the manuscript formatting and/or submission metadata for subsequent forwarding of the text to the double-blind peer-review process. If the editorial team's requests are not met by the authors within the stipulated timeframe, the submission will be archived, with no cost for the submission of a new one.

The evaluations of articles submitted to the Thematic Free and Dossier sections are carried out through the double-blind peer-review process. In other words, all articles that meet the editorial submission standards are sent without identification to two reviewers and, if necessary, to a third for resolving conflicting opinions.

REBECA's reviewers have a Ph.D., are members of the journal's editorial board, or are ad hoc consultants selected based on the thematic affinities of the articles under review.

The sections Reviews and Translations, Interviews, and Out of Frame do not require contributions to be published through the double-blind peer-review process as a prerequisite. However, according to the editorial committee's guidance, texts may be submitted for blind peer review based on the thematic affinity of the proposed submission.

The double-blind peer-review process takes an average of 90 days, and if accepted, contributions presented to Rebeca will be published within 1 year.
