O Don Quixote de Orson Welles: história e reconstrução

Abstract

Este trabalho é resultado de uma extensa pesquisa em bibliotecas e arquivos, visando entender a história da produção e os desdobramentos do filme inacabado Don Quixote (1954-1985) de Orson Welles. O trabalho se compõe de quatro partes: na primeira, situamos o Don Quixote no conjunto da obra de Welles, e em relação ao clássico de Cervantes, a partir dos conceitos de autor e de tradução; na segunda parte, apresentamos a história dos mais de trinta anos em que o filme foi sendo produzido; na terceira, propomos uma reconstrução textual e filológica, visando fundamentar uma futura restauração do filme; a quarta parte é uma conclusão com algumas propostas.

Adalberto Muller, UFF

Adalberto Müller é Professor de Teoria da Literatura e Cinema e Literatura na UFF. Bolsista de Produtividade 2-A do CNPq e bolsista Jovem Cientista do Nosso Estado da FAPERJ, autor de Linhas imaginárias: poesia, mídia, cinema (Ed. Sulina, 2011). Dirigiu o curta-metragem 35mm “Wenceslau e a árvore do gramofone” (2008). Membro do Conselho Deliberativo da SOCINE desde 2009. Em 2013 é Visiting Scholar no Film Studies Program da Yale University (Bolsista CAPES), sob supervisão de Dudley Andrew.
