This photo essay presents images of the ruins of three sidewalk cinemas that used to be located in the Rio de Janeiro suburb of Zona da Leopoldina. We propose a reflection on the abandoned condition of extinct collective cinematographic leisure facilities, considering the historical role that the cinema plays among the other technical-media devices for access to film and in the dynamics of sociability and local/identity belonging of individuals.
