Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Rebeca - Brazilian Journal of Film and Audiovisual Studies is a biannual publication that accepts continuous submissions of original and unpublished contributions. Texts are published in sections dedicated to free-themed articles and thematic dossiers, as well as book reviews, film reviews, translations, interviews, and creative texts related to cinema and audiovisual media.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal.
  • The journal accepts submissions in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
  • The sections Free Themes and Dossier are intended for the publication of articles written by PhDs and PhD candidates. Masters, master's students, graduates, and undergraduates may submit articles in co-authorship with PhDs.
The sections Reviews, Criticism and Translations, Interviews, and Out of Frame accept individual and collective proposals from PhDs, PhD candidates, masters, and master's students. Graduates and undergraduates may contribute in co-authorship with PhDs, masters, and master's students.
  • The texts of the contributions must be standardized according to the style guide for each section of the journal, and authors must ensure that the submitted file does not contain any form of author identification, ensuring a double-blind review of the manuscript.
  • The title page is a mandatory file that must be submitted as an attachment, in a separate document from the text that will be evaluated under the double-blind review system. It contains information about authorship and, when applicable, details on co-authorship, research project results, funding sources, ethical considerations, conflict of interest statement, and prior presentation of the text at conferences or other academic events.
  • Authors and co-authors of articles and other texts accepted for publication or already published in the latest issue of the journal must wait a period of one year before submitting a new contribution.
  • The files for text submissions must be in .docx format with a maximum size limit of 2MB. Images should be formatted in .jpeg with a resolution of 150 dpi and made available as supplementary documents for the submission, even if embedded in the text.
  • The Rebeca journal uses the Similarity Check system for content similarity detection. Authors must inform the editors about the publication of the initial versions of their articles in conference proceedings, considering that unpublished articles submitted to the journal must exhibit a minimum of 30% changes compared to the versions available in the proceedings.
  • If a preliminary version of the article has been published in conference proceedings, the title must be modified in the version submitted to Rebeca.
  • Submissions that do not comply with the journal's guidelines will be archived, without prejudice to a new submission that meets all the criteria outlined in the author guidelines.
  • In the first stage of submission, before sending the manuscript and other attachments, all the information requested in the electronic form must be completed in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
